1937? Velox

This is my 1937? Velox road racer. It was made in New York by Alvin Drysdale. It is extremely light. The seat stays are very small diameter and are called "pencil stays". The bike has Lobdel V rims, with BSA hubs.

I am looking for correct single-tube tires for this bike, they are not easy to find.

This bike is in "as found condition". I am going to overhaul all its bearings, and clean and polish the paint and chrome. When it is done, I will put up more photos.
There were four different models of Velox bicycles, "The Red Devil", "The Ace", "The Velox", and "The Alvin". At first, I thought that mine was a track bike, then I was told that since it has the pencil stays, it is designed to be lighter and more comfortable for riding on rough roads.

The above ad came with permission from the Bike Cult website.
The Red Devil must be a really nice bike, I haven't seen one yet. An example of the Ace is pictured below.

The original owner of this Velox Ace was a bike racer from Needham Massachusetts named Alfred Zaffini, who bought the bike in 1937. The bike is currently in the collection of Edward Albert
It has better drop outs than my Velox.

There is a page dedicated to Alvin Drysdale on the Classic Rendezvous website. It shows a Velox similar to mine, it also has a drawing of the head tube decal, which is slightly different than the one on my bike.
There is another page devoted to Drysdale bikes at the Bike Cult website, and another Velox is shown on the Rydjor Bike Shop website
If you know anything about these bicycles, have a catalog or an ad or even a bike, please email me at chriseye@comcast.net

Thanks,
Chris
