When I got this Raleigh it had badly warped Bluemel fenders on it which I removed (I haven't yet removed the fender screws from the rear dropout). I still have the fenders which have salvageable hardware. The man who sold it to me said that he was the original owner and bought it around 1939. What I have noticed that makes it different from the other newer Raleighs which I have had is the rear Sturmey Mark K 8 (1938) hub; the oiler on the bottom bracket shell, the handle bar and stem, and the radialy laced front wheel. I would think that it originally had steel fenders and a maybe a chainguard. Could the Bluemels be original? They were available in 1937 and possibly earlier.I think that it was originally painted red with a gold headtube. It has a serial #154298 on the seat cluster. If you have a catalog or ad that shows this model Raleigh, or if you own a similar prewar Raleigh, or parts to complete mine, please email me at chriseye@comcast.net Thanks
